In November 2025, Premier Li Qiang announced at the G20 Leaders' Summit in South Africa that China would establish a Global Development Academy to promote common development among nations. With the support of relevant national ministries and commissions, the Global Development Academy, undertaken by Zhejiang University, was officially established in March 2026, becoming an important platform for implementing the Global Development Initiative and strengthening global development talent cultivation and international exchange and cooperation.
On March 15, at the inaugural ceremony of the Global Development Academy and the Global Development Symposium, Zhejiang University and the United Nations Population Fund signed a memorandum of understanding.
From September 6 to 7, the Global Development Academy grandly held the opening ceremony for its inaugural doctoral students and a series of international exchange activities.
During this period, the Global Development Academy, in collaboration with the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), jointly hosted the "China Innovation and Global Development Entrepreneurs' Luncheon."
Tu Hongyan, Chairwoman of WENSLI Group, was invited to attend and engaged in dialogue and discussion with Pedro Manuel Moreno (Moreno), Acting Secretary-General of UNCTAD, Gong Sen and Song Xueyin, Vice Deans of the Global Development Academy, as well as founders and senior executives of renowned enterprises including Ant International, DEEP Robotics, and Moxin Technology, focusing on China's industrial innovation practices and corporate participation in global development cooperation.
Among the young science and technology innovation enterprises, Wensli, with 51 years of silk-making heritage, stood out prominently. During the on-site exchange, Tu Hongyan, Chairwoman of Wensli Group, took Wensli as an example to share the practical path of upholding tradition while pursuing innovation and achieving technological self-reliance in traditional industries. She stated that global sustainable development cannot be achieved without the solid support of the real economy. As a Chinese cultural calling card embodying millennia of civilization, silk has always been an important bond for economic and trade connectivity and mutual learning among civilizations between China and other countries, possessing unique value and profound heritage in global exchange and cooperation.
Over the past 51 years, Wensli has always remained true to its original aspiration of pursuing industrial development, continuously promoting industrial transformation and upgrading, and achieving leapfrog development across production models, business models, and service scenarios. In the wave of digital transformation of historically classic industries, Wensli has transformed from a traditional silk manufacturer into an innovative leading enterprise supported by cutting-edge industrial tracks including silk new materials, digital cultural creativity, intelligent printing technology, high-end fashion brands, and life and health sciences.

At present, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and five other departments have jointly issued the "Opinions on Promoting the High-Quality Development of Historically Classic Industries," ushering in a new round of development opportunities for historically classic industries such as silk and tea. As a leading enterprise in the industry, Wensli will continue to play a demonstration and leading role in the renewal and upgrading of traditional industries, taking technology as its wings and culture as its soul, helping Chinese silk shine even more brilliantly on the global stage of sustainable development.
