On October 27, Tu Hongyan, Chairman of WENSLI Group, visited Xidong Village, Huabu Town, Kaihua County, Zhejiang Province, to inspect the development of the high-quality golden cocoon silkworm breeding base that Wensli has built there. She also visited partner farming households, the "Common Prosperity Workshop" (Gongfu Workshop), and agriculture-culture-tourism projects, gaining an in-depth understanding of base construction, golden cocoon breeding, household income growth, and industrial common prosperity, and further examining the results of Wensli's efforts to empower rural areas through industry and support brand development with high-quality raw materials.

Going deep into the rural frontlines to find the source answer to fine silk.

Walking into the Party-Mass Service Center of Xidong Village, Tu Hongyan learned in detail about the village's appearance and the development of its silkworm industry. "When we choose a raw material base, ecological conditions and industrial foundations are crucial," Tu Hongyan said, explaining the original intention behind the cooperation. She pointed out that Kaihua is located at the source of the Qiantang River and is a national ecological civilization county, while Xidong Village, as a village with a long history of silkworm breeding, has villagers who have accumulated generations of sericulture traditions and skills — making it the ideal soil for Wensli to establish a high-quality, standardized silkworm breeding base.

Since 2018, WENSLI has carried out cooperation with Xidong Village on a golden cocoon breeding project, gradually introducing the company's technological, R&D, and market resources to the local area, and promoting the development of the traditional silkworm industry toward standardization and large-scale operations.

In Tu Hongyan's view, the base is not only a production site for raw materials but also the starting point of brand quality. Only by ensuring quality control from the source can high-quality raw materials truly be transformed into competitive products.

Visiting farming households to help villagers find employment at their doorstep.

At Zhang Daigen's family farm, Tu Hongyan asked in detail about this year's silkworm harvest and business operations.

"The cocoon harvest this year has been very good. In addition to breeding golden cocoons, we have also expanded into derivative industries such as silk quilts and mulberry leaf tea, with annual income reaching more than 200,000 yuan," Zhang Daigen said, unable to hide his delight. From single-product silkworm breeding to diversified operations, this family farm has become a vivid microcosm of villagers finding employment and increasing their incomes at their doorstep.

This change reflects the deeper value of the cooperation model between Wensli and Xidong Village. From trial breeding of golden cocoons in 2018 to jointly building the "Jiuli Mulberry Garden" Common Prosperity Workshop in 2022, Wensli has gradually established a complete industrial chain from seed source and breeding to purchasing by building standardized greenhouses, cultivating the distinctive "Jincan No. 1" silkworm variety, and bringing in research forces such as the Zhejiang Academy of Agricultural Sciences to cultivate "Qiangsang No. 1."

"This year's improved 'Qiangsang No. 1' has larger leaves and more balanced nutrition, greatly improving the production efficiency of the mulberry plantation; combined with standardized breeding management, it provides a guarantee for reducing the incidence of silkworm disease and ensuring the stable production of golden cocoons," said relevant technical personnel.

At present, more than 100 households in Xidong Village are involved in golden cocoon breeding, and the mulberry plantation is becoming a sustained income-generating space for groups such as women who stay at home to care for their families while also earning income through labor.

From mulberry plantations to homestays, opening up more possibilities for rural industries.

At the village's distinctive homestay, Tu Hongyan saw the diversified development of Xidong Village driven by its characteristic silkworm industry. The homestay, named "That Place in the Mountains," was converted from a dilapidated red-brick factory dormitory and opened on April 28, 2026. It has a total of 41 guest rooms and blends harmoniously with the surrounding mulberry plantations. The newly completed Xidong Agriculture-Culture-Tourism Comprehensive Exhibition Hall provides a new space for displaying local silkworm culture, promoting study tours, and showcasing specialty silkworm-related agricultural products.

The previously idle spaces have been revitalized by the industry, not only bringing stable rental income to the village collective but also giving visitors the opportunity to stay longer, which in turn drives catering, silkworm culture experiences, and other spending.

According to the village, the golden cocoon industry alone is expected to bring about 450,000 yuan in income to the village this year. Combined with businesses such as homestays and mulberry leaf tea, the village collective's overall income is expected to reach 750,000 yuan. Behind these figures are the tangible results of the industry moving from single-product production to diversified operations, as well as a concrete reflection of the village collective economy's continued strengthening and the ongoing release of vitality in rural development.

Tracing to the end product — making good products traceable to their source.

For WENSLI, golden cocoons are not only a high-value raw material but also an important link connecting rural industries with brand innovation.

Golden cocoons have a natural golden color and unique compositional advantages, providing a differentiated foundation for the development of high-end silk products such as golden silk quilts, bedding, and pajamas. The active ingredients contained in the silkworm pupae, such as tianchong peptide (Tianchong Tai), also offer Wensli a new raw material direction for exploring the life and health sector. From silk products to the health industry, the value of sericulture resources is being further tapped.

From high-quality raw materials to end consumers, Wensli is also building a more direct space for brand communication.

On October 10, Wensli's first Hangzhou Silk Traceability Store opened at 4F–5F of Tower A, Hangzhou Tower, covering an area of more than 600 square meters. The store not only displays and sells products such as silk scarves and silk home furnishings, but also integrates silk culture, art appreciation, lifestyle experiences, and AI customization, allowing consumers to more intuitively experience silk craftsmanship, design concepts, and the cultural value behind the products.

When the origin story is backed by real industrial support, and when product value can be traced back to the source, the connection between the brand and consumers becomes more solid. For Wensli, creating a traceability experience is also about presenting silk quality, cultural heritage, and industrial practice more completely to the market.

Turning good ecology into good products, and letting good industries drive a better life.

From the ecological advantages at the source of the Qiantang River to the distinctive raw material of golden cocoons; from the diversified operations of farmers' family farms to the village collective's story of common prosperity; from the expansion of businesses such as mulberry leaf tea, homestays, and study tours to the brand experience at the traceability store in Hangzhou Tower — the practice in Xidong Village, Kaihua, demonstrates a vivid example of the renewed development of the historically classic silk industry.

This is not simply resource-based assistance; rather, the company integrates technology, standards, product development, and market channels into the rural industry, giving farming households the opportunity to participate in production and share in industrial returns, and giving the village collective sustained industrial support for development.

For WENSLI, a high-quality base is an important starting point for brand quality, and the rural industry is also an important part of extending the company's value chain upstream. Only by transforming ecological advantages into raw material advantages, turning distinctive raw materials into product value, and then feeding market demand back into the development of the production area can all links in the industrial chain form a more sustainable positive cycle.

A single golden cocoon connects the natural landscape and ecology, technological innovation, household income growth, and brand consumption. Wensli will continue to use the silk industry as a link to explore the deep integration of culture, technology, products, and rural resources, so that fine silk starts from high-quality bases, and the fruits of industrial development benefit rural areas and farming households even more.
